We have an impression of how a mafia works, and there\u2019s a fair amount of truth in that impression. For them, it\u2019s simply a procedural necessity and has nothing to do with rules from outside the organization.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Ideology is another point of distinction. Legitimate politicians tend to have sets of beliefs, particularly when it comes to economics. While the words \u201cconservative\u201d and \u201cliberal\u201d are tossed around without a lot of definition, legitimate politicians tend to believe those words represent ends of a meaningful spectrum of beliefs, and they see themselves as advocates of policies based somewhere on that spectrum.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Mafias will pretend to observe ideologies in their efforts to recruit chumps, but under the surface it is pure brutal power struggle. A mafia does not care about ideology.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Isn\u2019t it amusing that Hitler\u2019s Nazi party and Stalin\u2019s Communist party are purported to represent opposite ends of an ideological spectrum. In fact their \u201cideologies\u201d were identical. They had only to do with the aggregation of power, the same \u201cset of beliefs,\u201d which is \u201cI believe that I should have what you have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Says your local crime boss: \u201cMy belief is that I should be in control of everything, capiche?\u201d You won\u2019t find him (never her) discussing the merits of parliamentary versus limited-term governance.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section
